QLD, Australia

Creative & Festival Producer

#About

Mayella is a Meanjin-based First Nations Creative Producer, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and audio engineer with heritage spanning Boigu, Mer, St Pauls Islands, and Wuthathi Country. A versatile musician, she toured with ILBIJERRI's Black Ties and performed at the Yalukut Weelam Ngargee Festival. Her philosophy is that music and storytelling complete each other. An accomplished music director, Mayella delivers artist-driven, culturally safe projects. During her stellar tenure at Brisbane Festival, she championed landmark productions including Ghenoa Gela’s Gurr Era Op, ILBIJERRI’s Big Name No Blanket, Performing Lines’ Hide The Dog, Stephen Page’s Baleen Moondjan and the Be Iconic Fashion Parade on the Jean Paul Gaultier runway. Now Brisbane Powerhouse’s first First Nations Producer, she drives Cultural creative programming while continuing to champion industry pathways. Her hope is that her creative advocacy will influence the industry to raise expectations, increase value, and better hold space for First Nations artistry.
