BIGSOUND ANNOUNCES SUPPORT PACKAGE FOR SHOWCASE ARTISTS

+ Artist Applications Extended

Today, the BIGSOUND team announces a Support Package for showcase artists, including a travel assistance fund which each BIGSOUND artist will be eligible to apply for. In line with this news, the deadline to apply to perform has been extended by two weeks, now closing at midnight, Tuesday 2 May.

Following Premier Palaszczuk’s electric announcement at the Queensland Music Awards last month of a $3.8 million funding uplift for BIGSOUND from the Queensland Government, BIGSOUND is delighted to increase support available to artists showcasing in Brisbane this September, before and during their time on-ground in Fortitude Valley.

Each act invited to showcase can access a $500 grant to assist with transportation and accommodation costs to attend. An additional pool of $30,000 will be accessible via application by First Nations-identified artists, artists living with disability and artists from regional and remote areas for travel to showcase at the international event.

In addition, the Support Package will support a dedicated Artist Green Room, which will give artists a respite from the bustling conference precinct and support their wellbeing at BIGSOUND.

BIGSOUND recognises that artists are at the heart of everything we do. While the opportunity to showcase in front of the music industry’s key players and dealmakers can be instrumental to their career progression, the barriers faced by many musicians can be prohibitive. By delivering the Support Package to artists, it’s our hope that we can bring them closer to the next step in their journey.

ARTIST APPLICATIONS EXTENDED AND NOW CLOSE TUESDAY 2 MAY.
