Brick Lane Brewing

Right around the world, it’s the brick laneways that are the lifeblood of any great city. They are steeped in stories, built for the community and there is an ever-present sense of discovery and exploration. It’s also likely you will find a humble pub serving one of the staples of life on every laneway corner – beer.

It’s these laneways (and a deep love of beer) that inspired Brick Lane Brewing and our commitment to community, inclusivity, sustainability and innovation.

Today Brick Lane is at the forefront of craft brewing, having created a community where lovers and makers of great beers can unite. Our community includes all those who enjoy good beer – consumers, customers, partner brewers, suppliers and other independent brewers. We actively engage with a broad range of partners across various areas – from brewing extraordinary beers, partnering with customers in the trade and supporting inclusive community organisations and charities. Our wide range of beers are created for all taste profiles and occasions, spanning from the everyday refreshment to the super special limited releases.

We also know we have a responsibility to care for the planet and the people who inhabit it, now and for the future, so we devote a considerable and unwavering amount of our time, investment and energy into projects that positively impact.

COMMUNITY – BLB supports local organisations from charity groups and sporting clubs to partnering with purpose-led organisations. We remain a fiercely independent brewer, focused on driving local employment through the ever-expanding brewery and the multitude of organisations who help us bring it to life. We have a deliberate regional procurement strategy, with around 98% of all finished goods mass sourced from Victorian producers, including malt, water, most hops, most fibre and all primary packaging.

SUSTAINABILITY– Our brewery is a state-of-the-art facility that delivers incredible quality and consistently great brews; it has sustainability and efficiency at its core. We have a range of Australia firsts, from low thermal load wort boiling to crossflow filtration technology that reduces energy and water usage, improves beer quality and eliminates the need to use non-renewable filtration aids.

Packaging is in a flexible range of aluminium cans or glass bottles, with a range of secondary and tertiary multipack formats. No plastic packaging is used, with a focus on recyclable glass, aluminium, and fibre. We aim for best-in-class energy efficiency within the Brick Lane brewery, with significant investment into reducing emissions and reducing primary energy consumption.

Our recent $50 million expansion allowed us world-leading technologies in yeast propagation, fermentation management, automated liquids handling, centrifugation, high-gravity brewing, thermal storage/energy recovery and keg packaging. These investments will transform our production capacity while maintaining its quality and consistency. With a number of technological or engineering approaches new to the Australian beer market, we are able to significantly reducing primary energy and water requirements; to the tune of 1.5 million litres per annum! We are currently in the process of applying for B-Corp certification.

INNOVATION – At Brick Lane, we are constantly on the hunt for new, better or different ways to do things, from the incredible range of limited editions and seasonal releases; to our production techniques and equipment through to the way we approach partnerships with ideas of how best to give back to our communities. We do it all in a fun, interesting and human way which celebrates big thinking, giving back, and above all, making great beer that everyone can enjoy, regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, race, health, religion, age or disability.

Everyone is welcome at Brick Lane Brewing Community. Brick Lane is proud to be the presenting partner of BIGSOUND 2022!
