With so much of the Australian music industry undergoing significant systemic and cultural change in recent years, ARIA is at the fore of ushering in a new era – ARIA and PPCA CEO Annabelle Herd is a key figure to make this happen.
Annabelle joined ARIA in the top position following a 16-year career in television at Network 10, where she worked as the network’s CEO before moving into the music industry. Prior to that, Annabelle spent several years working in senior roles within Federal politics, as Senior Advisor (Broadcasting and Copyright) and Acting Chief of Staff for the then Minister of Communications and the Arts, Senator the Hon. Richard Alston AO, as well as holding membership on the AFTRS Council. Her introduction to ARIA signaled a new era for the association; with Annabelle’s invaluable and unique professional wisdom from across an incredibly successful cross-industry career, ARIA gained an absolute weapon of innovation. Joining at a period of time where the industry was hungry for change and new regimes to be instated, Annabelle’s appointment at ARIA has already caused waves of change and progress.
Annabelle Herd appears at BIGSOUND 2022 to discuss her career and break down her last 18 months at ARIA; with her unique insights from outside the music industry, Annabelle has been orchestral in the development of some key initiatives and restructuring moves within the music industry’s overseeing entity. She will offer her ‘outsider’ take on the industry and re-contextualise it in a broader sense, while delivering insights into key facts, figures and trends from the last 18 months.
